Empty Place at the Table

Join us on October 26, 2017 for the YWCA’s annual Domestic Violence Awareness Program – Empty Place at the Table .  This free program, co-sponsored by Kean University, will be held at the Miron Student Center on the Kean Campus.

The Empty Place at the Table art exhibition features dinner place settings, which represent real victims of domestic violence missing from their photo 2family’s lives.  It presents a sobering picture of the lethality of domestic violence including stories about the lives of  Union County victims. These victims lost their lives at the hands of an intimate partner. The display allows our community to mourn the loss of these victims together.

An evening performance at 7 PM, The Next Chapter,   features dramatic monologues based on stories written by survivors of domestic violence.  A candlelight vigil follows the evening performance.
