VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

The next virtual 40-Hour Domestic Violence Training will begin September 3rd.

24-Hour Crisis Response Team

Provide crisis intervention, support, and resources to survivors at the time of a domestic violence incident – responding on location at police departments within Union County or remotely by phone. Requirements: 18+, valid NJ driver’s license and access to a vehicle, 40-Hour DV Training, criminal background check, and 1 year commitment. Volunteers must live within 30 miles of Union County. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred but not required. Availability needed: on-call flexible scheduling – choose your shifts monthly (primarily evenings, weekends, overnight). This program is based out of the Union County Family Justice Center.

24-Hour Domestic Violence Hotline

Provide resources, referrals, advocacy, support and intervention to callers 24/7. Requirements: 18+, 40-Hour DV Training, criminal background check, and 1 year commitment. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is strongly preferred. Availability needed: weekdays, weekends, holidays, overnight.

Workforce Mentor (STEP: Skills Training and Empowerment Program)

Support domestic violence survivors with varying work abilities and employment histories. Assist with resume building, job searches, computer skills, and interview skills. Requirements: 18+, DV 101 Training, criminal background check, and 1 year commitment. Availability needed: weekday evenings.

Administrative Support

Assist in general office duties such as copying, filing, organizing office and/or event supplies, sorting donations, and stuffing envelopes for appeal mailings. Requirement: 18+, two or more hours per week commitment. Availability needed: hours between Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm.

Childcare

Care for children while their parent receives valuable services such as counseling, case management, or skills training. Must have personal or professional childcare experience. Requirements: 18+, DV 101 Training and criminal background check. Availability needed: weekends or weekdays; afternoons or evenings.

Court Advocacy

Provide emotional support and legal options to domestic violence survivors applying for a Final Restraining Order at the Union County Courthouse. Requirements: 18+, 40-Hour DV Training, criminal background check, and 1 year commitment. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is required. Availability needed: weekdays at 8:30am.*

We are always looking for dedicated community leaders to join our Board of Directors and serve on Board Committees, including Finance, Development, and Governance. Please contact Kathryn Lynch if you have expertise in these areas and would be interested in serving.
